Conflict Minerals Management Policy

  • To ensure that its procurement actions and decisions comply with the principles set forth in the OECD Guidelines for Multinational Enterprises, the International Labour Organization (ILO) Conventions, and the United Nations Global Compact (UNGC), Quanta actively promotes a responsible sourcing policy and is committed to not engaging in any activities that would contribute to social, environmental, or human rights degradation.
  • Recognizing the potential for significant negative impacts associated with mining, trading, processing, and exporting 3TG (tin, tungsten, tantalum , and gold) minerals, as well as cobalt, mica, and other minerals in conflict-affected and high-risk areas, Quanta recognizes its corporate responsibility to respect human rights and avoid contributing to conflicts. As an active participant in the global electronics supply chain and a member of the Responsible Business Alliance (RBA), Quanta supports the Responsible Minerals Initiative (RMI) and performs due diligence on responsible mineral sourcing in accordance with the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Supply Chains of Minerals from Conflict-Affected and High-Risk Areas, the RMI framework, and customer requirements to ensure that our mineral sourcing is responsible and ethically sound.
  • Quanta monitors and evaluates information published by the RMI regarding the Reasonable Country of Origin Inquiry (RCOI) to assess risks associated with the Democratic Republic of the Congo and neighboring countries and/or other high-risk areas. Quanta requires upstream smelters and refiners in the supply chain to actively participate in third-party certification programs (such as RMI, LBMA, and RMAP), and requires suppliers to procure responsibly from certified compliant smelters and refiners. At the same time, Quanta supports the continued use of third-party certified minerals from the Democratic Republic of the Congo (DRC) and adjoining countries and/or other high-risk regions in order to avoid adversely affecting responsible mining operations in those areas.
  • In practice, Quanta continues to support RMI’s strategies and approaches to due diligence by adopting the due diligence reporting templates and related management tools issued by RMI, designating responsible units, and establishing effective management procedures. Quanta communicates its responsible sourcing policy to suppliers on an ongoing basis, provides training on responsible mineral procurement, and requires suppliers to complete conflict minerals reporting templates such as the Conflict Minerals Reporting Template (CMRT) and the Extended Minerals Reporting Template (EMRT), along with supporting country-of-origin evidence. Suppliers are also expected to cascade with this policy to their upstream suppliers throughout the supply chain and ensure compliance, thereby implementing measures to mitigate and/or eliminate risks accordingly.
